School Curriculum
Our school recognises its historic foundation and strives to develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the church at parish and diocesan level.
We aim to serve the community by providing education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.
We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promote Christian values through the experience we offer all our pupils.
Our Vision: ‘Nurturing minds and Aiming high to Succeed and flourish’
Our vision and mission are firmly rooted in Jesus’ vision of the kingdom of God as described in the parable of the mustard seed.
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Matthew 13: 31-32
Each of our journeys through school is like that of the mustard seed. We begin as small seeds, yet when we grow through our learning, friendships and experiences, we become the best versions of ourselves. Just like the largest mustard plant.
Our learning garden is a reminder of this growth. If we tend and nurture the plants, they will grow tall and strong.
By nurturing our learning, and trying our best by aiming high, we will all succeed and flourish.
Each one of us is unique and special, just like the plants that grow in our learning garden.
We aim to promote the full potential of all by developing their unique talents and skills through a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum, within an inclusive, caring Christian environment where everyone is respected and valued.
Spirituality in the Curriculum
As a church school, we ensure a spiritual dimension to our learning.
‘Spirituality is woven like a thread through the fabric of our school allowing opportunities to transform our thoughts, our actions and our senses, and enabling all to flourish. We provide time to be still, to be reflective, and to appreciate awe and wonder through experiencing special moments. We value, nurture and celebrate the uniqueness and beauty of every individual, others, our world and beyond.’
Our Values
We create an inclusive learning environment built upon our Christian values of love, compassion, trust, hope, and friendship.
- We demonstrate Compassion by encouraging our children to become thoughtful, caring individuals, giving them the opportunity to experience a range of opinions and showing kindness in our responses.
- We demonstrate Trust by building a curriculum that enables children to develop into confident, respectful learners. We give them the opportunity to ask questions in a safe environment by showing them that curiosity is to be valued and that everyone has something to contribute.
- We demonstrate Friendship in the emphasis we place on developing cooperative and caring relationships between our learners, enhanced by the opportunities to work collaboratively with one another through our curriculum design
- We demonstrate Hope in the creation and implementation of a curriculum which challenges, inspires and promotes success for every child through encouraging them to be active partners in their learning. It promotes a ‘Growth Mindset’ approach which encourages them to learn from mistakes and feedback, and to grow to become more thoughtful, mature and knowledgeable future citizens.
- We demonstrate Love with the care in which we plan exciting and engaging learning experiences for the children and the respect with which we involve them as partners in developing the curriculum.
Our vision for the curriculum and our core values underpin all we do.
